Homeforgeeks (HFG) Review - A Tech Blogging Team for the Future

Home For Geeks Review
It is time for another review. How about a tech blog? I have decided to review homeforgeeks.com which is fast becoming one of the most highlighted blogs in the internet.Homeforgeeks includes a wide range of categories within the blog like Mobile,Blogging Tips,Graphics,Webdesign,Social Networking,Search Engine Optimization,Wordpress and how to make money online.

Frankly it has to be mentioned that one of the co owner of the site, Sumit is my friend. But as always I have tried my best to make this review without any sort of allegiance or partiality.

Design

Homeforgeeks has been designed in the wordpress platform with the genesis theme.Looking at the layout and gadget placement the blog looks first class in itself. With popular posts widget , drop down blog archive and recent comments the navigation through the blog seems to be quite easy. But the presence of latest posts and also recent posts on the home page seems to be displaying the same article links. The ad placement within the blog is efficient and does no disrupt the readers.

As per the advertise with us page that is present on the blog, homeforgeeks receives a Monthly traffic  of 20000 Visitors and 28000 Page views. That is extremely good for an upcoming blog  that also had been featured on sites like
ehow.com. It has also been mentioned that the stats are as per the data available on 10 Nov 2011. That seems to be a bit of bother. A professional blog needs to have their blog stats within the blog updated regularly and importantly the inner pages needs to look professional.Better optimizing these pages would go a long way in the development of the blog.

PR, Alexa and Audience

Homeforgeeks has got a Google PR of 3 and Alexa -72,831 as on 24/4/12 when this post was written. Most of the audience of the site seems to be hard core young tech enthusiasts who comes down the site searching purely for knowledge about a particular topic.

Frequency of updates

The blog is frequently updated with quality content which seems to be one of the reason behind the rise of the blog faster in the highly competitive niche. With an updation frequency of 2-3 times every week, the administrators of the blog has been able to develop enough content without compromising quality.

Why Homeforgeeks?

What makes this site worth following is the way these bloggers mention that they are just another learners and not experts. At a time when  tech blogs blooms every second from every tom ,dick and harry who claims themselves to be the experts, this one blog provides a sense of relief to many. Plus the quality content the unique style of narration plays its part too. since the articles in the blog are not written by a single person, there does not lie any sort of boring repetitiveness.

Meet the Bloggers
Homeforgeeks is one of the are blogs that is there which have a exclusive team working together. Most of the upcoming tech blogs would have been operated  and maintained by a tech enthusiast himself (till he becomes a big player). But this one stands out from the crowd. Apart from the 2 administrators, the blog also has 1 comment moderator, 4 authors and 2 co editors.Check out their about us page for more details.
